Jorge Posada is hitting 0.165 on the season. Alex Rodriguez is hitting 0.252, is 35, and has seven years left on his contract at approximately 24 million a year. CC Sabathia, as the ace, has a 3.47 era with approximately 92 Million owed, if he does not opt-out of contract after this year. Derek Jeter is hitting .267 with only 2 homeruns and eleven runs batted in. He is still owed thirty four million over the next two years. After Jeter leaves, who is their shortstop? Rodriguez, it looks like won't be the starting third baseman for the remaining seven years of his contract. Who will take over for him? For Posada, there seems to be a promising player in the minors in Jesus Montero, from the Yankees Triple-A team. Who will fill the left side of the infield. In a couple of years, Rodriguez will most likely move to DH. The Yankees have now learned the hard way that you cannot fill every hole by free agency. They will need to start building up the farmsystem and make more homegrown players on their Major League club in New York.
